University Bound Students

Please remember to keep checking your OUAC and e-mail accounts for any updates and/or looming deadlines.  Remember, changes to your application must be done before the January 11th application deadline.  We recommend not making changes at this point unless necessary as it sometimes takes up to 24 hours to process these changes.

IMPORTANT NOTE  for University-Bound students:

New this year:  OUAC is charging a $50 fee for any changes to your application if you are switching your choice of Universities. This will be charged even if you are deleting one university and adding another but are still  keeping your total number of schools/programs to 3 choices.  This fee does not apply if you are only switching from one program to another at the same University.

Parents invited to join EDSBY

In October of 2016, we launched a new program to communicate and stay connected with your child’s progress at school.   We believe that better access to information about your own child will empower you to have richer and more engaging conversations at home which will ultimately assist your child academically.  Our new engagement program, EDSBY pulls together information about each of your children and presents it in a clear, easy to understand and comprehensive format.  You have the potential to see their assigned homework, their attendance and the specifics of what they’re being taught in each class.

Student Services Reminders

Welcome Back SJSH students. Some important information for you as we head into exams and semester 2. First off, if you require a timetable change, all changes will be done through the Appeal Process. The Appeal forms are in Student Services. Please complete the form properly and have parents sign off on it. It is in your best interest to hand in ASAP so your Guidance Counselor can attempt to meet your request.

Second important message as we head in to course selections for the 2017-2018 school year mid-February. All students, 9-12 should have their Career Cruising I.P.P Activities completed or almost completed in order to make the registration process run more smoothly. If for whatever reason you have been unable to log into Career Cruising, please see your Guidance Counselor this week so they can assist you.

Good Luck on exams.

We are all learning together

As part of a City of North Bay community initiative on Truth and Reconciliation and led by George Couchie, four community sessions focused on Indigenous history are planned for the month of February.   The community sessions are entitled “We Are All Learning Together: Kina maamwi gdoo-wiikendaasmin”. Our board is pleased to have been invited to host two of the four community sessions.

The primary focus of this initiative is “To educate and openly discuss Canada's true history between indigenous and non-indigenous peoples to foster a better understanding and create a positive path toward reconciliation for all Canadians.”
