Quest Ayotte and Jadzea Dickieson did a project showing how plant growth on Mars would be a possibility, while showing that growth of plants with low concentrations of Basalt dust (the dust found on Mars), actually showed an improvement in plant growth.  They received a Silver in the Life Sciences field as well as a $100 cash award, and a $1000 Scholarship to Ottawa University.

Chloe Carriere and Caitlin Howard did a project showing evidence that Stinging Nettle improved the Alzheimer's profile being expressed in fruit flies.  They received a Gold in the Life Sciences field, a $500 scholarship to Nipissing University, the Rotary Senior community impact award ($150), as well as the right to represent North Bay in the National Science fair being held in Regina, Saskatchewan.
