NPSC Announces Senior Administration and School Administration Appointments at St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Catholic Secondary School for 2023-2024

The Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board (NPSC) is pleased to announce the following Senior Administration and School Administration appointments at St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Catholic Secondary School (SJSH) for the 2023-2024 school year:


Derek Belanger

Derek Belanger: Assistant Superintendent of Education: Mathematics Lead

Derek Belanger brings a wealth of experience, with a total of 20 years of service in Catholic Education, and a deep skill set to this new role as Assistant Superintendent of Education: Mathematics Lead. He is currently the Principal of St. Joseph-Scollard Hall and has served in this role since 2014, prior to this he served as Principal of St. Hubert School from 2011 to 2014. Throughout his career with NPSC, Derek has held various roles including the Board’s Lead for Managing Information for Student Achievement K to 8, where he led the use of a variety of data to inform instruction and supporting the integration of technology into learning throughout the system. Over the last nine years as Principal of St. Joseph-Scollard Hall, he has developed specific experience in Mathematics instructional leadership as he collaboratively led significant changes to instructional and assessment practices in Mathematics. Most recently, Derek has fostered the capacity for large scale change through the provincial implementation of de-streaming at the secondary level. He has also been a member of several system committees, including the Teaching and Learning Through Technology and System Curriculum Team. The leadership experience developed by Derek over the course of his career, including strong cross-curricular and community engagement skills, will serve him well in this new role. The primary focus of this role is Mathematics, including informing and monitoring progress towards student math achievement and improvement targets.

Micheline Pride

Micheline Pride: Principal, St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Catholic Secondary School

Micheline Pride has been appointed as the new Principal for St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Catholic Secondary School and has served in the role of Vice-Principal at SJSH since 2014. She brings to this role a total of 24 years of service and experience in Catholic Education. Throughout her career, Micheline has served as a teacher, Curriculum Lead and Student Success teacher at SJSH. Over the years, she has collaboratively led the school improvement plan focusing on Literacy, with an emphasis on building the skills students require to be successful on the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test using data to inform instruction. Micheline brings significant expertise in literacy development and assessment which will continue to support student achievement at SJSH. In her tenure at SJSH, Micheline has developed deep experience serving the best interests of our students and the school community and has built strong relationships in the community.

Stacey Walsh

Stacey Walsh: Vice-Principal, St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Catholic Secondary School

Stacey Walsh joins the experienced school administration team as Vice-Principal beginning this school year. She has served NPSC since 2005 and brings over 16 years of teaching experience to the role of Vice-Principal. Stacey has experience as a Junior and Intermediate teacher and has served in the role of Literacy Facilitator for Grades 7 to 12 since 2014. She has developed a breadth of experience in the priority area of Literacy through the involvement and leadership in a variety of system and Ministry initiatives focused on improving literacy outcomes for students in Grades 7 to 12.
