Paying for Post-Secondary

A post-secondary education is a very important investment for your future; however it can be very costly. Having a good financial plan set in place early will help to make the transition easier.

Payment options:

  • RESP's and/or other savings.
  • Money saved from a part-time job.
  • Entrance Scholarships from the Universities (if you have the marks).
  • Post-Secondary Financial Aid Office Bursary Program. (Note: you will have to visit your new schools financial aid office in September of your first year)
  • Bursary and Scholarship websites posted by SJSH Student Services (www.studentawards.com and www.scholarshipscanada.com ) Begin by investigating and applying NOW. 
  • Parent's place of work. Some companies have Bursary and Scholarship programs for employee's children.
  • If you are employed, some companies have financial programs to assist their employees with post-secondary education.
  • SJSH Bursary and Scholarship Program.
  • ODSP and other programs that help to subsidize, if your child is eligible.
  • OSAP (Ontario Student Assistant Program) application process begins in April. A presentation for those interested will be offered in April. NNote: this is a loan and must be paid back as soon as your education is completed.
  •  Consult a financial advisor

Apprenticeship - Subsidies are available for people who are signed apprentices.
